Actions Teams are made up of YP members who want to be actively involved in making a difference in YP Reno County and ultimately our community. They are the decision makers and the driving force behind our events, services and programs. Teams meet once a month for about an hour. If you have questions about an Action Team, please contact them by using the email addresses below.

CONNECTION

How Young Professionals Are Making the Connection

The idea behind Connection—the short name we use to describe our efforts—is just that! We connect our members to the unique people and places that are assets in our community as well as expose topics of special interest to our members. In addition, Connection is about making efforts in our communities and county to connect people, businesses and organizations together.

We are currently working on an internship and recruitment program, YP Reno County Backstage Pass, to help introduce potential interns and new employees to Reno County and to provide them an immediate connection to other people in their demographic. In addition, we hope a part of this program will serve the business community by providing information and services to assist their efforts of recruitment and retention.

To benefit members, “lunch and learns” are held on a bi-monthly basis in Hutchinson. Each session occurs over the noon hour, includes lunch, and has covered a vast array of topics, including recycling, volunteerism, and fitness and nutrition. Connection has hopes of a future political debate and has ideas about a YP day at the Kansas State Fair.

If you have an interest in any of these projects or would like to join Connection, email us at . You can also learn more and/or sign up to volunteer for our service programs by signing in and visiting “Volunteer” in myYP.

VOICE

Finding It and Making Sure It's Heard

As young professionals we have a great opportunity to influence and shape Reno County. But, in order to do that, we must first find our voice. The goal of the Voice action team is to find out who our members are and what they care about and share it with whomever will listen.

The first major project of the Voice was the YP Reno County Survey that many of you took. And if you did, thank you! Voice has the results and is in the process of sorting through all the data and comments that were collected. As soon as everything is compiled, (please bear with us as this happens…there is a lot of info to go through, which is a great thing!) YP members will be the first to know about it. After that, our plans are to host focus groups in all Reno County school districts to dig a little deeper and get even more information as well as provide the opportunity to give presentations across our community to committees and organizations about the outcomes of the survey.

The Blog page on this website is a great way for us to hear about what you care about. And don’t worry, we hear you loud and clear. Future plans for the Voice committee include doing some research on the possibility of a Critical Mass Ride, kicking off YP Reno County LLC, a life and leadership consulting program for teens, and matching up YP members and HCC students in the HCC Leadership Mentors program.

If you have an interest in any of these projects or would like to join Connection, email us at . You can also learn more and/or sign up to volunteer for our service programs by signing in and visiting “Volunteer” in myYP.

PULSE

The Social Aspect of Young Professionals

Pulse is the social committee responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of YP’s social events and activities. Our goal is to create events to help build a peer-based network of young professionals in our community who work together and play together, with a long-lasting interest in this community.

We currently host a Monthly Mingle on the 2nd Thursday of every month as well as 2 annual parties. Future plans include a YP “Soiree”, a family pool party and possible tailgating. Pulse is also the home of YPAAA, Young Professionals Athletic and Activities Association. We know that there are YPs out there who have always wanted to participate in a rec league but just haven’t had anyone to play with. YPAAA is the solution to this problem! Not only does this include athletic teams, but other special interest groups like the Knitting Club and Book Club.

Our social and networking opportunities will link you with like-minded young professionals and help ease the transition into a new community and career or engage you if already settled and calling Hutchinson home.

If you have an interest in any of these projects or would like to join Pulse, email us at .
